Challenge Accepted.

So excited to read all of these pages!!
I hereby declare this book my summer challenge.
The other day at Chapters I came across a real gem! I found the entire works of the Bronte sisters in a massive, and might I add quite magnificent, book. This beauty also happened to be on sale...for $10.00. Crazy, right? Now I know what I'm going to be doing this summer...
In between my crazy job and my messed up summer sleeping patterns I am going to attempt to read the whole ENTIRE works. I've already read Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, as my more avid readers know ;), but for the sake of comparing the stories I am going to take this challenge to another height and re-read those two novels as well.
I've been searching for a book to read that I don't know the ending to, which I have found! I know the two novels I already mentioned (obviously) and I've seen the movie for Tenant of Wildefell Hall, but the other four novels I have no idea as to what the plot is...so, as you can tell, this is quite exciting.
900 pages of this...

Why Do Girls Get All Dolled Up?

I think some people wonder why certain teenage girls make a huge effort to look nice everyday, some girls don't put in any effort, and others have occasional days where they get all dolled up. Is it just personality? Self esteem, maybe? These could be the reasons, but I think that it is more about the phases they are going through relating to boys. Let me explain.

There are many different phases for girls in relation to boys, but I am only going to talk about three, because these stages effect the way we fix ourselves up the most. The first is the "I'm single and lovin' it" phase, when you are out there to declare your independence. This is great, because you dress up for yourself, you wear what you WANT to wear and perhaps try out crazy new looks. This is a wonderful stage, because you aren't worrying about impressing a certain boy. It is nice this way, because instead of thinking, "I hope _____ thinks I look pretty today," it's, "I like how I look! Who cares if boys think I'm hot or not? If they do, awesome! They have good taste." Yet, this also is a phase that lets the sloppy look sneak in. Since girls aren't interested in any particular someone, some days they'll have lazy days, and not care what other people think, because during this time you are just dressing up for fun...and sometimes you're just not in the right mood for that.

The second phase is the "I'm single, and hatin' it!" stage, when you are interested in a particular someone, but not certain that they return those feelings. This phase is all about being dolled up ALL of the time, asking other girls, "Are you sure I look good? How about my hair? My make-up? This shirt?" and pretty much having your self-esteem randomly going up and down. It is a constant worry that the guy will suddenly find you unattractive, therefore ruining your dreams, so looking nice every day that he could possibly see you is vital. So, this phase is good, because you try your best to look presentable, but it also can have a negative hit on your self esteem, especially on the odd day when your looks just aren't working for you.

The last stage is the "I've got me a man!" phase, which is quite self-explanatory. You already have a boyfriend, and he's not going anywhere. You know that he'll like you no matter how you look, so looking great isn't  necessary, but always appreciated. You want your man to feel like he can show you off when he's with you, but when you have a bad hair day, you don't need to beat yourself up about it. You dress to impress him in particular. When you curl your hair or apply your foundation, it is with him in mind. The whole "dressing to impress" part also applies to the "I'm single and hatin' it!" phase, but when you have a boyfriend, you are a lot less stressed out while doing it. Instead of thinking, "I hope he likes this blazing blue eyeshadow!" you think, "I know my man loves this fiery red headband on me!"

So, folks, there you have it. Now you can observe the girls around you and see if you can figure out what routine they are going through. Then again, they could just be naturally beautiful or untameably sloppy.

A Post That's Not Really Worthy of a Title

I mentioned I was going to Arizona, and I am here now, staying at my grandparents' house on a Navajo reserve. I've only been here for a couple hours, but the difference between the quality of life here and the world back home is overwhelmingly obvious. It really opens my eyes to how lucky I am to live the way I do.
I kind of like road trips... they give me a lot of time to think and  to listen to my music. I like that :) . The scenery is really pretty too, I can just look out the car window and imagine Wile E. Coyote chasing road runner around the mesas.
I will probably talk more about Arizona later, you know, once I've been here longer :P .
BTW For the most part, I have been listening to City and Colour on the way down here. Especially the song The Girl. It's so good.... i've been humming it all day....makes me all happy :)

Snippets of Happy :)

The next few weeks are going to be pretty splendid, for starters I just started using a new tube of toothpaste called "Minty Sparkle" and the name seems promising to not only give me dazzling teeth, but also a lift of happiness! I imagine that brushing my teeth in the morning will be even more exciting than usual now, because now as I brush my whole mood will be given a powerful boost of minty sparkly.
So, the toothpaste isn't the only reason I think these next few weeks are going to be fantastic... reason #2 is that I am going on another road trip with one of my best friends this coming weekend. It's only about a 6 hour drive, but it still ought to be a blast! Also in two weeks I am going to drive down to Arizona with my family... see, originally I had typed another paragraph to go with this Arizona thing... but I ended up almost talking myself out of wanting to go... so, I will drop that subject.
Giladelfus, back when he was just learning to scratch
Now, I think it's about time for me to start talking about grad...:). I was asked to grad almost a week ago, and I am working on replying sometime within the next few days... I have a bunch of ideas, but I will post something on that after I've carried out the plan. I also ordered my grad shoes and will be picking them up when I go down to Arizona, which is one of the pros of going there.
Oh! Another thing that made me happy... my baby evolved :) ...in pokemon, that is. I'm such a great mummy :')
I'll post more grad stuff later, I feel like this post is already getting pretty lengthy, and no one likes reading long blog posts unless the writer is vastly entertaining, which I don't claim to be, haha, so, toodle-oo. :)

Most Sensational, Inspirational, Celebrational

I don't know if there is a better feel good movie than the new Muppets movie. I am sitting here at this very moment watching it and enjoying every second... no matter if you are a muppet fan or not, you will like this movie.

Busy doing fun things :)

My most best friend & I setting up her grad reply :)
Wow, I can't believe I haven't already posted this year! Welcome 2012!
Over the past couple days I've realized how busy I can be if I try. I mean, this is good, right? I can make it so I don't have a chance to be bored; I want you to understand how incredible this is. I have so many projects that I need to do within the next few months that I can completely occupy my time, probably until the end of school.
The first things that I need to get done are my 10 hour projects for my Personal Progress program. For one of them I am doing indexing, which I only started a few weeks ago...and I think I'm hooked! It's so neat; just now I finished typing out some names from WWI drafting records. When I index I feel a strange connection to the people, like I'm slightly getting to know them, even though most of them died over 50 years ago.
After I'm finished my Personal Progress I am going to make another collage! I have a scrumptious idea for this next one, and I can't wait to get started on it!
Anyhow, I'm keeping busy so far this year, and 2012 is looking pretty bright. So, there's the little update on my life. I was going to start writing about my excitement for graduation...but, you'll hear enough of that within the next little while. ttfn :)

The Actual Factual Christmas Post

I know I posted already today, but, I--whatever. I'm not making an excuse.

Yeah, we watched Prep & Landing. Cute, but after two shorts it made me sick.

Alright so this Christmas I haven't really been surrounded by family at all, in fact, my oldest sister and her hubby actually went away, so instead of having more people, we have less. I haven't really been feeling all that well, so eating all of that candy and chocolate I want is hard...

So, this is my Christmas in a nutshell:
Christmas Eve:
1. Ate a taco
2. Sang a carol or two
3. Recieved new snuggly pajamas that are as soft as cotton candy
4. Finsihed making/wrapping Christmas presents
5. Went to bed; couldn't sleep
6. Watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls
7. Got to sleep at about 2-3 am
Christmas Day (today):
1. Woken up at 6 am
2. Waited
3. Went upstairs and opened some gifts
4. Went to sleep
5. Woke up
6. Ate breakfast
7. Went to sleep for a couple hours
8.Woke up
9.Got ready for church
10. Went to church
11. Came home
12. Ate dinner
13. Did dishes
14. Watched Gilmore Girls
15. Gilmore Girls
16. Blog post
17. Gilmore Girls
And that has been my Christmas 2011. Needless to say, I am almost finished the first season of Gilmore Girls, and am in need of the next season. I will buy that tomorrow. Isn't it strange how when you watch a TV show a lot you feel like that's your life? You feel more like the characters, or relate people to the characters? Things in your daily life seem to have connections with the show? Yeah... anyways, Christmas... want to know what I got?
-towels
-a crock pot
-Pride and Prejudice A&E dvd set (Yay! :) )
-a book
- a framed picture of Kimmy and I :)
-a blanket from myself
-an angel ornament thing
-make up brushes
-eye shadows
and the best one ever:

My family got JUST DANCE 3 from Cammie, Keith, and Baby Peanut! :)

flushing my feelings ducts.

First of all, I want to wish all of you a merry Christmas, and secondly I would like to warn you that this post might be boring and uninteresting, but I like blogging, so I continue. OH, and another warning that this post is incredibly feelingsy.
Wow, this year went fast. It was a good year, but so...different. I can honestly say that this past year has changed my life in every aspect. I don't know how I feel about having changed so much, and maybe nobody else realized this other than myself, but golly, it's a big change. What I've noticed is that I've really come out of my shell; I used to be such a sentimental, naive, care-free kid, and I never really felt like I had anyone that really understood me in my life, but I think it's because I never understood myself. ( I'm sorry for the sappy stuff, but I already warned you; you now read at your own peril.) I still don't completely understand why I do some of the things I do, but I feel I've developed and started to understand myself as a person a lot more. Events in this past year have most definitely contributed to this change in character. Recently I read some of my old journals (I am very into journals; you will not believe how detailed they are; to give you an idea, I would write about what cereal I ate that morning, perhaps the ratio of milk to cheerios etc. Very detailed.) and I realized how different I am from only a year ago. It's absolutely incredible. I'm not at all saying that these changes have been bad, I mean, for the most part they've been really good, but it scares me to realize that that little girl inside of me that had such childish innocence is dying. That kid that saw everything as good, and failed to see the evil in everything around her, but now I am sitting here, looking at the world and thinking, it is such an awful place so full of people who act different than who they really are, and just how selfish, so selfish, the real world is. Gah, it drives me crazy.
Anyways, more about the changing stuff. I had this great epiphany this year, wanna know what it was? That I don't have to like what other people like, or pretend I do. I can pick out the songs I listen to and the books I read without feeling like I need to like what other people want me to like, or be how they want me to be.  I don't need to be a people pleaser and get roped into something because I feel bad for someone! I mean, of course I am still willing to help, but I can't put too much on my plate here.
Okay, feelings session over.

Age Matters SO Much to Me

Don't you find it wonderful when you watch a movie, read a book, hear a song, etc. and a main character is the same age as you? It makes me feel special. I don't know why...
When I was 15 I remember watching The Princess Diaries and feeling so happy because Mia was also 15, and I could totally relate my life to hers :P. I watched Sense and Sensibility, thinking, "Marianne is 16...so am I!" as well as Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, etc. Sixteen was the princess age. Now that I am seventeen....I am in love with ABBA's Dancing Queen, because as you all know the lyrics, like, paint the picture of my existence. Haha. So, yeah... here it is :)
(Look at all them people breaking it down on the dance floor!)

Doggies

Ozzy.
I have a dog named Ozzy that my mom named after "The Wizard of Oz" because he is the same type of dog as Toto. Why she didn't just name him "Toto" I'll never know, because now I am stuck with correcting everyone who meets the thing that he is in fact not named after Ozzy Osbourne, and no, he is not on a crazy train. I'm sorry to all of you dog lovers who read this, but I just had to say something. I don't like dogs, I don't like pets. Baby animals are cute and wonderful, and cats are pretty cool, but dogs? No. Ozzy is alright, but he is not my favorite thing my family owns. He has advantages, I suppose, like he can roll over if you bribe him, he can shake your hand, he can make himself look cute once in a while... but the cons totally outweigh the pros. Ozzy looks like a dirty mop (and smells like one) almost all of the time, he whines when he is inside the house until you let him outside, and once he is outside he barks until you let him in, he throws up in the house, he steals your food, and we have to pay for his food and junk. Anyways, I think I've bashed my dog enough for the day, allow to me move on...

I have a few inspiring quotes for all of you.

- "If your dog doesn't like someone you probably shouldn't either."- Unknown    Even if you thought this person was a saint, and he/she was the kindest and truest friend ever, you should not keep your good opinion of him/her if your dog barks at them, because they must really be an awful human being underneath all of that goodness.

-"They [dogs] never talk about themselves but listen to you while you talk about yourself, and keep up an appearance of being interested in the conversation."- Jerome K. Jerome We are a selfish, selfish, species.

-"To err is human, to forgive, canine." -Unknown Hah, dogs definitely err. If they didn't, I wouldn't ever be cleaning up dog poo/vomit on the kitchen floor.

"The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man's."- Mark Twain   Okay, Mr. Twain, have fun there. I'm sure it rains dog treats and smells like bacon.

"Bulldogs are adorable, with faces like toads that have been sat on."- Colette
The uglier things are, the cuter they seem to be.

"The average dog is a nicer person than the average person."- Andrew A. Rooney  Yeah, well, so is the average hamster, or iguana, or dolphin. Wait... is a dog a person?

P.S. Deep down I do love my dog in a strange way. Really.

Winter and its Wonders

The air is growing colder, there's snow on the ground and the days are becoming darker...what does this mean? It means...winter! There are certain things about winter that are awful, like the cold, and the ice. Yet, winter has it's perks: Christmas is an obvious one, sledding, Michael Buble's new Christmas CD, hot chocolate, egg nog, and winter wardrobes!

I love living here, especially because of the variety in seasons. I couldn't live some place where it's hot all year round. It is too much fun changing up my outfits as the weather changes. Winter is wonderful because I can wear nice warm pea coats, mittens, and big cozy scarfs. I can plug in the carols and decorate the tree and ahhhhh..... winter is wonderful.... until Christmas is over, then it just kind of sucks.

Anyways... I have a somewhat important announcement for any of you out there who actually care about my life... I got accepted at the U of L today, and I am officially attending there next fall. I also scored a free toque and water bottle! (That made my day)

Incredible Excitement!!

Last night Kimmy and I had a girls' night! As much as we love the guys, I think we both needed this. I don't think the past couple weeks have gone that great for either of us, and we both were in need of some cheering up. It was a blast, and I must say, boosted my spirits immensley!
Of course, we chatted for an hour or so, letting out any sad feelings so we could move on to the happy! Then, Just Dance 2. We have definitely improved on our dancing powers (I say "powers" because we are indeed, that good!) since last time, and we were workin' it so hard we had to strip down to our tank-tops. We've always wanted to get the guys to play it with us, but they absolutely refuse to (which is understandable), but then Kim and I decided it's probably best that way, because we certainly can't "move it" (or strip down :P) the same way with them watching.
In Kim's wonderful words, "Sexy."
After our JD2 session, and five hundred glasses of water, we decided to watch a chick flick! So, we settled with What a Girl Wants, because, let's face it, no man can be as sexy as Colin Firth, nor as smoking hot as Oliver James.

Obviously smoking hot

Then, we had a raw ichiban/cereal break! Which, brings me to some very exciting news! (I've pretty much been waiting to say this since I started typing!!) Kim and I have planned a small road trip to the BIG city! It's going to be a blast, and we'll be heading out in 19 days!!!!! We will be staying at my darling Cammie's house for 2 nights! We are being set up with some dates the night we arrive, and then the next day will be spent shopping!!!
I am ecstatic!

Summer Summary

I must say that this, the summer of 2011, has been the best summer of  my life so far. Maybe that's due to the fact that it is the most recent, and therefore the one I can remember the best. Yet, I think it's because this whole year has been the best ever. Sixteen was so fun, and I am unsure whether my seventeenth year can top it!
For the most of the summer I didn't even leave town. I worked every single morning (except weekends, of course :P)  besides the one week I took off to go camping (which was the only time I actually left town and stayed somewhere else this summer), and the week I had my wisdom teeth removed.

The highlights of my summer:
  • New Phone!
  • Playing with my friends :)
  • The town celebrations
  • Getting my wisdom teeth cut out (maybe not my favorite part, but exciting nonetheless)
  • My birthday
I know that a few of the above happen every summer, but they were absolutely even more spectacular this year by a long shot. I'm sad that it's over... it really was an amazing summer.

Ring, Ring! Oh sorry about that...my spankin' new phone just went off!

I'm not sure if I want to turn 17 quite yet, my sixteenth year has been a rather successful one! I got my own room, lock, TV/DVD player, my drvier's liscence, my own job, and now.....dun,dun, diddly-doodle-oo, a cellular telephone! :D  Life has treated me very well this past year.

Anyway, I am very excited about my cell-phone :) It makes me happy all over! She's a Samsung Evergreen.
My new baby! <3 (and I know that Becky said we can't call anything our "own" babies unless we have given birth to it, or one of our aunts has given birth to it, but I think this beautiful device can be an exception)

Divinity

Anyone out there who does not love chocolate, be prepared to change your opinion of it and go completely berserk after you watch this!
