Wuthering Heights- Depressing and Refreshing

Who would have thought that something could be depressing and refreshing? I will answer this question by saying I really have no idea. I think it is mostly the addiction you get to the novel. I have never seen any movie adaptations of Wuthering Heights, but yetesterday I finished the novel by Emily Bronte. It wasn't my favorite book, but I liked it pretty well. I love period romances and so I was bound to like this one also, though at first I had my doubts; I have heard many different accounts of Wuthering Heights. These reviews range from "it was really boring," to "depressing" to "my favorite book!" and "this book changed my life!".  Honeslty speaking, I had none of these sensations except it was depressing. It is not my favorite, as I said before, but I do like it  and I did not find it boring.
Before I mentioned it as a period romance, well I will correct myself now that it is not a romance, not at all! But it does involve love, but I think it'd better be classified as a period drama.
I am skeptical to watch any of the movies, but BBC usually does a pretty good job, so  that would be the first one I would watch. If any of you have a favorite version of the movie let me know!!

Candy Canes and Guts

This week has been a doozy! There are only 9 days till the best day of the year, and let me tell you: I'm pretty excited!!! So what has been happening in my life? At least school-wise? Well lets just say I have been waiting for this school day to be done this entire week! What do I mean? I mean studying Biology! It is awful! But let me tell you, if you are having problems with knowing what is happening to the food you eat, I am now an expert! Oh ya, and if you want to see whats happening inside of you, I did in fact dissect a pig fetus and I could certainly point out whats goin on in all of that gunk!  Lets just say studying the digestive and respiratory systems has paid off! Why? Because I am now finished my test! Yes! Now holidays can officially begin, right now! And as I am eating all that turkey, pie, and candy I can think of what is happening to all of that food!! (Because I really wanted to know all that!)
The holiday is started for me already, I still have school tomorrow but it will include zero work! I get to watch Elf first period, and Spongebob's Christmas Special 2nd period, and then there is an assembly with free hot dogs and oranges and perhaps donuts, and then after all that the Superintendent called the school telling the teachers to let us out of school at noon! Woohoo! Tomorrow will be a blast!

My Latest

The past week has been a really good one for me, it was a week that I read a good book! Everyone has had those weeks! And if you haven't, try it out! It is really satisfying! For the first time I watched Jane Eyre (BBC 2006) and I couldn't help but watch it twice in a row, it was so good! (If you couldn't tell that was my latest favortie! :P ) . Since I enjoyed it so much, I thought I might like the book too, (By Charlotee Bronte)  but it is a long one! And I was hestitant because I didn't think that Mr. Rochester would be half so charming in the novel, nor the story half so entertaining! I absolutley loved the book! It was easy for me to get into, and it usually took up the majority of my day! The movie I had watched followed the book so well! And I was completely happy with all of the characters and the whole book!! :) It makes me happy. And yesterday I watched Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South! I love it soo much!

I got voted off..... :(

Alright, so I got kicked off Survivor! Oh dang! I believe the tribe needed me, I wasn't the weak link like whats-his-bucket said! I am pretty strong for being so small. I deserve that million dollar check!!!! Well good luck to my tribe without me!
For Halloween my friend and I were Survivor losers.... it is pretty sweet. It was easy and fun! I made my hair wavy with my chi and then messed it up and hairsrpayed it to death and put some braids here and there. I think it looks like I haven't showered in 30 days...

ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!

Every week the weekly quote has changed (wow, who'd of guessed?), but I still want to keep the previous quotes available to the public. SO now you can find most of my previous Weekly Quotes, up top underneath the banner if you click on the button Previous Weekly Quotes (again, who'd of ever thought of that?)  I guess this whole thing is pretty exciting!!!!

Alright, next announcement. I know that my recent posts have been relatively and pretty much boring, which is why I have stopped doing 3 posts a month, because it just made things complicated and made me stress to write some random things off the top of my head. So that whole "3 posts/month" thing is terminated. Who really counts anyways?

THIRD and FINAL announcement: I need more followers! Mainly for my own sanity, so I don't feel like I am just talking to myself!!! If you are following, thankyou so much! Please invite others to follow! If not, every single person is greatly appreciated and I would love it if you followed my blog!

Chocolat' and Charm

I borrowed the 2000 movie Chocolat from my aunt, and I have been so inspired by the chocolaterie, (not that i plan on becoming a chocolateer now, though it is considerable.... ) and so twitterpaited (and I am sorry, I hate that word "twitterpaited" but I can't think of another word to describe it) by the handsome character that Johnny Depp plays. He is a great actor and he could be so good looking if he didn't make himself look like a hippie, just flushed Tim Burton movies down the toilet and recognized his true potential as the hottest man alive. Don't get me wrong, he hasn't quite taken my Freddy's  place. Maybe its just Roux's (johnny depp's character) scorching brown eyes that get to me.
Oh goodness, I just love movies about food! I think I need to read this book...

Oh Captain Wentworth!!!!

Do you know what is extremely annoying but perhaps even more amazing?? When I have dreams about guys (usually fictional characters or moviestars)!!! Since I know that not very many people follow this blog, and not really any men, I can safely say (I hope!) that I love kissing dreams, and romantic dreams, because it makes me get the butterflies for days, and then I instantly think that that man (whoever he may be) is extremely more gorgeous and attractive then he was before I had the dream. Don't think I am completely lame, because guess what, I know I am too young for that sort of thing! And its not really happening, its just amazing dreams!!! (Though I admit sometimes I do wish they were real!!)
Anyways, so the past week I read Jane Austen's Persuasion and loved it! So I watched the new BBC adaptaion of it after I finished the book. I really do love that movie! (I grant you, the sister Mary acts like she is mentally ill and stupid) but other then that, I love it! So....... two nights ago I had a dream about Captain Frederick Wentworth (from the 2009 movie) and  we were completely in love, but we had been apart for so long! For some reason in most of my dreams I live in my Grandma A's house. (Perhaps that gives you an idea of the setting! ;) ) Anyways, I was down in the basement, and then Captain Harville and Captain Benwick came down and gave me a letter from Frederick (sincer I had a dream about him, I do believe we can be on a first name basis) He was waiting for me upstairs!!!! And so I went upstairs, and he proclaimed his love for me and asked me to marry him, ..... and then I asked my mom if I could and she said something like "Of course! It's alright that you are only sixteen because those kind of men only come around once in a lifetime!" ...  but of course my dream ended before the wedding, much to my dismay! :( . So if you notice my recent love for Freddy then now you will completely understand, and I will be blameless!!! :) haha. (and I know he isn't extremely extremely attractive otherwise, but honestly i think he is the most attractive man right now.....!)
Pretend that girl in the right-hand corner that doesn't
deserve him, isn't there! Just imagine me there instead!

New and Improved Cover (Dust Cover)

I bought the book The Highwayman of Tanglewood (By Marcia Lynn McClure)!!!!!! I am very happy because I love it so much! The one thing I can't stand about the book though, is its cover. I know, I know, "never judge a book by its cover" but honestly, when my friend showed me this book for the first time, I just wanted to laugh because the cover made it appear like a corny book with a corny storyline, despite all of the great things i had heard about it! I even tried to get my older sister to read it after I had, but she said, and I quote, "It looks stupid," even though I praised it so much she won't read it because of its cover! So, I decided that I would make my own cover to it, a more attractive cover, one that deserves that book. I thought it would be a cool idea, and so I did it! PICTURES BELOW!!!!

The spine of the new book-cover (dust-cover) I  designed & made for the book

Confidence. = Happiness.

I, being a not-so-self-confident young woman, have decided that my lack of self-esteem is not doing me any justice whatsoever and is in fact ruining my teenage years. Most teenagers, almost all teenagers, are insecure. That is the honest truth and nobody can argue with that! And I confess I am one of those people! So what do I do? I drop it! I decided to stop trying to find probalems with who I am, and being jealous of other people on occasion, because I am stuck with my personality and my body for the rest of my life! I want people to like me for who I am and not for who I think that everybody else will like better. So thats it! I want to be myself, and I will be myself! And I am going to have the greatest sixteenth year in the history of sixteen year olds! If you have ever observed, people are usually different at home then they are with their friends and at school, so this is what im going to do, im going to alter my life so that i am the same person everywhere i go, im just me! and i'll need to improve my attitude at home, and at school somewhat, but i think that this is a good plan and i am already feeling a sparkle of self-sureness.... what do you think?????

Never Judge a Book by its Movie

So... guess what best-selling series I started reading again today? You guessed it- the twilight series. Now hear me out, I am not an obsessed fan, though I did realize when I was reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner that I truly do love the books :) . I was obsessed with the series in 2008, when I first read them. This will be my fourth time reading the 1st book, the only other book in the series I have read more then once is New Moon. My favorite is Breaking Dawn though.
Starting to read the series again made me realize how much I hate the movies, Kristen Stewart's buck teeth, man voice, and forever-blinking eyelids is not the Bella Swan that is in the books for me, she is just a bad actress in a cheap, lame movie. For me, The books are a whole different world then the movie , the characters are all different, the setting is all different, the story is different. The story is better.
I was hesitant when the first movie came out because I thought it would ruin the books for me. It did in someways, it definitely made the series seem more lame. But now as I am reading Twilight , I am able to force the bad-actors from the movie out of my mind and bring the characters that I found the first time I read it back to life, as well as the settings.
So I am still a proud owner of all 5 twilight books, and I got to admit, kind of embarassed to own the first Twilight movie.

A Healthy Habitat (In 10 easy steps!) {super secrets on cleaning your room!}

SO I cleaned my room today! Wohhoo! Here is the secret,
1. put on some music that you can flow to, that just makes your limbs want to pick up junk off the floor on their own without any messages from your brain
2. start by completly emptying your dresser, dump all of your clothes on the floor until you cant see your feet
3. pick up random stuff off of the ground and fold it and put it nicely in the drawer it BELONGS
4. Once clothes are no longer present on the base of your room, clear off your vanity/side tables/bookshelfs etc. and reorganize
5. strip bedsheets off of your sleeping blob and put clean ones on (if summer put on lighter covers, if winter put on heavier covers)
6. pick up stuff off of the ground (and make sure you get the stuff from under your bed). Divide it into 3 piles: -stuff that doesn't belong in your room, -garabage, -stuff that goes in your room
7. once junk is in all 3 piles, swiftly put the stuff where it belongs
8.sweep your floor, ever so nicely! Pretend you are petting a puppy, be soft and gentle to the ground, so you dont scratch the base.
9. clean out the closet, and organize everything! From shoes, to dresses, to costumes, to boxes, to junk that you cant seem to get rid of!
10. if you are going for super-super-clean mop the floor and wash the windows and mirrors and walls and pictures and everything! If you are going for just super-clean you are finished!!!!
And that is a clean room in 10 easy steps! A clean place is a healthy place!

Fairytale

So I wrote a short story for my darling sister yesterday. It is a fairytale based on true facts, with a little tweaking here and there. I decided to just name it after her, since all of the famous fairytales are usually named after their heroines (eg. Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Rapunzel). So now I have this idea in my mind to write each of my sisters a short fairytale of their own once they get married or something, because deep down, all girls are princesses! (Isn't that touching? :P )

R.M. + J.C.

I am almost done reading William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet for English Class. I LOVE it! Lots of people say they didn't like it, but I really am enjoying it! I think it is amazing... If you want to like it, you can. People just dwell too much on the fact that she is 13 and he is 16, not really understanding that that was normal back then. Another reason people don't like it is because they don't believe in love at first sight, and so they say, "Romeo and Juliet didn't really fall in love at first sight, that's impossible!" Well, they actually really did! It says it right in the play. It is fiction, and anything can happen in fiction. It doesn't mean it has to happen in reality.

Baked Alaska

Today I made baked Alaska, my overall review of it is about a 6 out of 10. How you do it is you cut off the top of a chocolate cupcake, then put a scoop of ice cream on top (I did chocolate ice cream, mmmm), then you make meringue and pipe it around the cupcake/ icecream. Then you take a blow torch and make it so it is brown all around it. I put little marshmallow-fondant decorations on mine, but you don't have to.
THe first couple bites were, HEAVEN! It had a unique taste to it. Some of my friends say that they didn't like it though, so I guess you either love it or you hate it! Once the icream was all melted though, I didn't love it as much. The meringue and cupcake together was too rich without the icream balancing it out.

IF YOU TRY : A way to improve it would to be to make the meringue less thick.

New Title.....I know!

SO I did change the title of my blog today. It was "COOK me a Story" but I changed it to "THINK me a Story" due to confusion. First of all, COOK me a story made this blog sound like some cook book..... as my darling sister pointed out to me... and since this doesn't have that much to do with cooking, I changed it! :) .

Editing......

So I am going through my first full-length story, editing..... hmph. I finished writing it just before Christmas, and then I got lazy and set it aside, not bothering to edit it until now. I want to get it all completed by the end of June, so I can give a copy to my friend for her birthday, since the story is all about my friends and I, and is loaded with a bunch of inside jokes. I think she will enjoy it... I actually gave a copy to my other friend for her birthday in January, yes, before I edited it thoroughly :S. That wasn't a good idea, because after I gave it to her I re-read it and found tons of mistakes! So I need to start at the beginning again, and mark up my copy. Wish me luck! Though my schedule will be kind of tight, especially with finals the same week as her birthday! Eek! I got to hurry!

Welcome!!!

I am very excited to begin blogging. First off, I will let you know that I LOVE writing, and that is where the "cook me a story" comes from. I guess I also like to cook, though I am not very good at it, haha. I admit I am nervous about having a blog, but hopefully I will get more comfortable with it! :)
